Gollum's Struggles

Gollum’s search for the Ring

“Help me find my preciousssss! Nasssssty calisuri has it!”
After leaving the Misty Mountains, Gollum pursued Bilbo a few years later, but the trail was cold. He made his way south into Mordor where all evil was being drawn at the time, discovering the secret stair located near Minas Morgul and surviving an encounter with Shelob. He was captured on his return and taken to to the enemy’s stornghold and forced to reveal under intense torture what he knew about the Ring. Gollum was then strangely freed, as he shows no particular loyalty towards Sauron, but caught by Aragorn then interrogated by Gandalf, who placed him in the care of the Silven Elves living in Thranduil’s kingdom in Mirkwood. Assisted by Orcs he escaped them, and set off looking for the Shire. He passed through Moria, but could not make it out of the East gate. Seemingly he then just waited there until he got lucky when the Fellowship passed through. However, as Frodo was a ring-bearer he might have foreseen the passing of the ring. Alternatively, some of Saurman’s or Sauron's spies may have revealed to him the Fellowship was heading towards Moria.

Gollum’s Intigue

Gollum, finding Frodo responsible for Faramir’s cruelty towards Gollum, makes plot to steal his precious from master of precious (Frodo).
Gollum’s conversation with Smeagol
Gollum: [smeagol is sobbing] smeagol… Why does he cry, smeagol?
Smeagol: Cruel men hurts us. Master tricksed us.
Gollum: Of course he did.I told you he was tricksy, I told you he was false.
Smeagol: Master is our friend… our friend.
Gollum: Master betrayed us.
Smeagol: No, not it’s business. Leave us alone.
Gollum: Filthy little hobbites. They stole it from us.
Smeagol: No… No.
Gollum: we wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses, wicked, tricksy, false!
Smeagol: No, Not master!
Gollom: Yes, precious, false!
Gollum throws away the lembas bread and blame Samwise Gamgee for eating it. He poisoned Frodo against Sam.
“Sam:  what are you up to? Sneaking off are we?
Gollum: Sneaking? Sneaking? Fat hobbit is always so polite. Smeagol shows them secret way that nobody else could find. And they say sneak! Sneak? Very nice friend oh yes My Precious very nice...

Sam:  Fine have it your own way. I'm sorry to wake you Mr Frodo, we have to be moving on.
Frodo:  It's dark still

Frodo: what? That's all we have left.
Sam:  He took it! He must have!
Gollum: Smeagol? Oh no not poor Smeagol. Smeagol hates nasty elf bread

Sam:  That's a filthy lie! 'hits Gollum to the ground and starts to wail on him'
Frodo: Sam! Stop it. Sam, no! 'Falls against the rock wall'
Sam: Oh my! I'm sorry. I didn't mean it to go so far I was just so, so angry. Here, let's just rest a bit.
Frodo: I'm all right
Sam:  No. No you're not all right. It's that Gollum. It's this place. It's that thing around your neck. I could help a bit. I could carry it for a while... Share the load
Frodo: Get away! 'pushes Sam and stands up'
Sam:  I don't wanna keep it. I just wanna help
Gollum: See? See? He wants it for himself
Sam:  'stands up' Shutup you! Go away. Get out of here
Frodo: No Sam, it's you. I'm sorry Sam.
